Approximately five
miles away is the pretty market town of Ottery St. Mary which is situated on the River Otter. It has a magnificent church which dates back to the thirteenth century and resembles the
cathedral at Exeter.
Seaton is within a short distance
by car, situated at the mouth of the river Axe. The trams that operate here are a popular tourist attraction.
The pebble beach, which is
approximately a mile long, is backed by tall cliffs of red stone on one side and white chalk on the other. You can enjoy many watersports around the Seaton area, either on the beaches or the
river. These include fishing and canoeing, or you could take a trip by boat. There are also many opportunities for walkers and hikers, either by the coast or on the banks of the river.
