red cliffs. It benefits from excellent water quality, however please note that the beach does shelf at high tide.
Sidmouth provides a good area for
sailing, jet skiing, fishing, walking and surfing. It should be noted that zoning areas exist for motorised craft and jet ski's.
The town makes up part of the Jurassic Coast and is surrounded by lush green fields.
Seaton is a short distance away by
car, situated at the mouth of the river Axe. The Trams that operate here are a popular attraction for tourists.
The pebble beach, which is
approximately a mile long, is backed by tall cliffs of red stone on one side and white chalk on the other. You can enjoy many watersports around this area, either on the beaches or the river.
Fishing, canoeing and kayaking are favoured, or take a trip by boat. There are also many opportunities for walking and hiking along the coast or on the banks of the river. Enjoy exploring the
countryside from this area, which is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Seven miles East of Sidmouth is the
village of Beer. It's a picturesque fishing village, with a stream running through to the cove. The beach is shingle and backed by steep white cliffs. The Beer Quarry Caves which are found
here a vast labyrinth of chambers and tunnels. They have been mined since Roman times and Beer stone is used locally in the construction of many buildings.
