Barnstaple, the largest
town in North Devon, is situated approximately seven miles from the mouth of the River Taw. It has become the main shopping centre for North Devon and has grown considerably
over the past few years.
Whilst it does not have
any particular areas for outdoor pursuits situated in or around the immediate proximity of the town itself, it is an ideal base for visiting other areas within Devon. The North
Devon Link Road is just minutes away, and junction 27 of the M5 Motorway an approximate 30 minute drive.
The town sits only a
few miles to the West of the sweeping moorland and wooded valleys of Exmoor National Park and here you will find superb walking, hiking and mountain-biking terrain.
