The village of
Braunton, 5 miles North West of Barnstaple, is the largest village in England and is home to a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
In recent years it has
become particularly popular as a base for surfers wishing to explore the breaks of Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe. It is also favoured by those who enjoy mountain biking,
skate boarding and bmx. You will find a good range of shops specialising in these areas and from this the village has developed a very relaxed atmosphere.
The sand
dunes at Braunton Burrows, which are 3120 hectares in size, are the first site in the UK to be made into a biosphere reserve and are one of the largest sand dune areas in the UK.
