Decoy Lake, a natural lake of approximately nine acres set in beautiful surroundings.
Dartmoor National Park is only a
short journey from Newton Abbot. Dartmoor is a large plateau of granite rock covered with heather and grass. It's a rugged and barren area of raw beauty. The jagged outcrops of rocks, known
as tors, again offer excellent opportunities for climbers.
The moorland provides excellent
terrain, both for the experienced hiker and for those wanting a more sedate walk. There is an abundance of stables available for horse riding and some superb bridleways and off road trails
for both novice and expert mountain bikers.
Generally speaking access to
Dartmoor itself is unlimited, except for the Ministry of Defence firing ranges to the North West of the moor.
Just a short drive by car from
Newton Abbot is the market town of Ashburton. It can be found off the A38 heading towards Plymouth from Exeter. It is situated on the edge of Dartmoor, on the river Ashburn. Asburton itself
is nestled in a rolling patchwork of fields and offers plenty of scope for walking, canoeing and horse riding. You will also find many restaurants and pubs within the area.
