Mountain biking in its most
extreme form is referred to as 'downhilling' and as the name obviously suggests, is a combination of downhill speed, corners and jumps over rough terrain. With speeds approaching 60 mph and trails which,
to the casual observer, often look impossible to ride, crashes are inevitable. With this in mind it's always recommended a full face helmet, body armour and hand/eye protection is worn. These items
should be coupled with a bike which is up to the extreme loads which it's subjected to. For this kind of abuse full suspension with a high degree of travel front and rear is a must and quality hydraulic
disc brakes are also recommended. Rather than overall weight, the focus should be on quality and strength of components as well as a strong frame.
