Tavistock, with its
population of some 11,000 people, is a West Country market town situated on the river Tavy. Over the years the town has evolved from many directions, with tin mining, the wool
trade, the abbey and the pannier market all helping in its growth. Nowadays the town benefits from a good range of shops and places to eat. It's a picturesque town set in the

Anglers must obtain a
licence to fish the Tavy from the River Authority and permits are available for the other water courses which surround the area.
