West Devon provides visitors with
everything for the perfect outdoor experience. Whether you choose to stay in a small town or village or in the bustling City of Plymouth, with its large assortment of shops and places to eat
and drink.
The smaller villages in the West of
the county nestle along typically narrow lanes or are set in the beautiful countryside of Dartmoor. This National Park is superb for outdoor pursuit enthusiasts and offers everything from
hiking, kayaking, fishing and shooting to mountain biking and horseback riding. You can also climb its rocky tors, abseil and explore its variety of caves.
The Granite Way, which is part of
the Devon Coast to Coast, is part of the National Cycle Network and is an excellent way to explore the area. It follows the old railway and is mainly off road. You can also pedal the route
from Plymouth to the coastal town of Ilfracombe, on the North Coast of Devon.
The region is easily accessed by
road, from the M5 motorway and the A38, and has excellent rail links to the area.
