Review | 2014 Fatyak Hono Multipurpose Board

Conclusion

There is little available on the market to compare the Hono to as an overall package. Perhaps then, we've been a little unfair using a bodyboard in the traditional sense, as its benchmark.

After all, the Hono is marketed as a multi-purpose board which can also be used on snow or perhaps towed behind a boat, holding the handles. For those purposes we're sure it would be great fun and if we have a "proper" winter this year we'll certainly look forward to trying it out on some powder.

We also wondered whether the Hono, would make a good rescue board for beach lifeguards, attaching to the back of a jetski, with a swimmer being able to use the grab handles after being pulled from the water to be taken back to shore.

In summary then, the Hono is a versatile and unique piece of kit; it looks good and is well made. We think it would provide the ideal platform for an older child, holding the handles and being supervised by an adult or for an adult looking to experience some surf and just have some fun on the water. Better still if you also drive to mainland Europe for some snow during the winter and can pack the Hono or we’re fortunate to have some in the UK.

It is great to see a new outdoor product being brought to the market by a forward-thinking and British company. And top marks to Fatyak for trying something new!

*Since writing our review, Fatyak have confirmed that they are planning to offer the option of a carry strap for the Hono and also recommend that people wax the deck of the board to aid with grip.
